Description For sale is a gorgeous example of a collector's favourite,  Ideal's Play Pal Shirley Temple.  This doll was manufactured in the early 60's and was designed to be a life-sized friend to little girls.  This special vintage Shirley Temple stands 36" tall and is a "walker".  If you pull the doll's hand, she is designed to walk towards you.  The head is marked Ideal Doll/St-35-38-2 and the body is marked Ideal Toy Corp./G-05-4 (very faint so that could be wrong) and below that Pat. Pendg.  This doll is all original with absolutely no touch ups.  She has had no repairs besides a restringing a few years ago.  She has her original dress, Shirley Temple pin, underwear (elastic stretched, tiny tear near top edge), socks with blue band to match dress (small hole in one sock) and original shiny black shoes.  She has a gorgeous smile with sparkling white teeth- these dolls cheer you up every time you look at them.  Her face has no rubs,  her hair is lovely and thick and still in ringlets.  Shirley's eyes are clear and open and close like new and her lashes are thick and all there.  The body to this doll is in very good condition with no obvious problems that I can see.  There is a slight dark ring around the top of each arm (probably removable) and a few scratches near the front of the doll's neck.  This vintage Shirley Temple would be a wonderful Christmas gift  for that special doll collector.  She comes from a smoke-free home.  I do combine shipping if more than one item is purchased.  I accept PAYPAL, INTERNATIONAL money orders or personal cheques (min. of 15 pos. feedbacks) although the latter can take up to 30 days to clear.  Therefore, if you pay by cheque, expect a delay in shipping.  Payment is due within 10 days of the end of the auction or the sale will be void and the item relisted.  I'VE HAD SEVERAL E-MAILS ASKING WHY THIS DOLL DOESN'T HAVE TWIST WRISTS AS A LOT OF SHIRLEY TEMPLE PLAY PALS DO.  I PURCHASED THE DOLL WITH THIS TYPE OF BODY AND HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT WAS SWITCHED FROM ANOTHER.  DOLL MANUFACTURERS WERE IN A VERY COMPETITIVE BUSINESS IN THE 1950'S AND 60'S.  IF THEY HAD GOOD DOLL (E.G. PLAY PAL) BODIES, THEY WOULDN'T HESITATE TO USE THEM.  THEY COULDN'T AFFORD TO WASTE THEM AND THESE DOLLS WERE IN HIGH DEMAND AT THE TIME SO THEY WANTED TO GET THEM INTO THE STORES ASAP.  THEY KNEW IT WOULDN'T AFFECT THE SALE OF THE DOLL.  IT'S WELL KNOWN THAT #4 BARBIE BODIES WERE ISSUED WITH #3 HEADS AS WELL AS MANY OTHER COMBINATIONS BECAUSE MATTEL KNEW CHILDREN DIDN'T CARE - DOLLS BACK THEN WERE INTENDED AS TOYS, NOT COLLECTORS' ITEMS.
